My birthday was a few weeks ago and it was the first birthday in 3 years that I woke up in my own bed. This is what I woke up to….
It was my first official birthday as a mommy and it was a glorious day. Instead of a big trip, I opted to do a trip to Monterey, CA which is about two hours away from home! Oh to live in Northern California where worthy travel destinations are always in my reach!
The plan for the day was brunch followed by a visit to the Monterey Aquarium. My daughter is in love with a PBS show called Splash and Bubbles. In short the show is about sea life and they kind of look like characters in Finding Nemo. We thought it would knock her socks off to see real sea life. Well…….we got a late start. Sometimes things take longer with a baby and I didn’t want to spend my birthday stressing and rushing. We did make it to brunch though at a fabulous place called Crema. There is always time for brunch! Crema came highly recommended by my sister and I now highly recommend it! The restaurant is a converted house and it is fantastic. The service was great and the food amazing. Just so you know, they do not take reservations for parties less than five but you can call ahead and get your name on the list.

After brunch we walked around Cannery Row and just enjoyed the rest of the day! Birthdays and motherhood are magical. Everything with my daughter seems magical!! This is truly an amazing time in my life.
