When I decided to start this blog I thought I wouldn't have enough to say about my side career as a fitness instructor to devote any real estate to that part of my life. This is kind of a weird idea given that teaching group fitness is my passion! I figured that enough instructors have blogged about Les Mills Bodypump, Les Mills GRIT and Turbo Kick that I couldn't really add much. After thinking about it, I realized that I do have my own perspective which is what I would like to share with you.
I became an instructor about 8 years ago. I loved taking Turbo Kick classes and thought it would be fun to get certified in Turbo Kick and sub once in awhile. Well here I am 8 years later teaching 4 classes per week. My specialities are Turbo Kick, Les Mills Bodypump and Les Mills GRIT! I have gained sooooo much from being an instructor. Way more then I ever imagined. For one, it has given me a chance to really connect with people and be an important part of people's lives, their health and overall well-being. The "thank-yous" I get from participants after classes and the stories of how taking my classes have changed people's lives has been incredibly humbling. People have told me that I inspire them but truth of the matter is they have INSPIRED ME! They make me want to be the best version of myself inside and outside of the gym. I'm impressed by their dedication, tenacity, senses of humor, vulnerability and overall "realness". I love them all! A lot I know by name and know about their personal lives. I'm so lucky because several of my participants are now my close personal friends celebrating birthdays and holidays with me. I thank them for the opportunity to INSPIRE and BE INSPIRED and most importantly I thank them for their FRIENDSHIP.
